BCCS – The strategic partner of Spanish and British companies in Spain

The British Chamber of Commerce in Spain (BCCS) is the only independent Spanish-British business organisation between the United Kingdom and Spain. Founded in 1908, it has offices and activity in Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga. The Chamber boasts nearly 300 Spanish and British member companies of different sizes and diverse sectors.

The Chamber is one of the first points of contact for British companies that want to know more about business in Spain and access the relevant people to contact. It is also relevant for Spanish companies that want to familiarise themselves with the British market and do business within it.

The Chambers’ services include:

  • The organisation of more than 50 events between the three cities. Through these events, the Chamber transmits relevant information and creates a space for new contacts, business relations between them. The member companies can also participate as speakers in some of the events, therefore gaining visibility and accessing new clients.

  • Communication as a tool to promote business between our members. In recent years, the improvements in Chamber communications has been enormous. The new web page allows members to publish videos, photos, interactive images and everything else that could be of interest to the rest of the BCCS community. The Chamber publishes a fortnightly newsletter and reaches more than 3000 contacts amongst members, institutions, foreign companies and business organisations. The Chamber also has a significant relationship with the Spanish media and British correspondents who publish information of interest.

  • Institutional relations: the Chamber collaborates with all key institutions, in particular with the British Embassy in Spain, UKTI and ICEX- Invest in Spain and the European Chambers in Spain in collaborative events and sharing relevant information. Furthermore, Spanish and British institutions increasingly count on the Chamber’s organisation for their initiatives and events, in defence of Spain as a country for investment and exportation.

  • Advocacy or representation of the interests of our member companies in front of decision making bodies. These initiatives led to the creation of the British Investment in Spain Committee and the publication of the first Barometer about British investment in Spain. This publication highlighted the importance of relationships between the two countries, as the United Kingdom is the 5th largest investor in Spain and invested €63 billion in 2014. The barometer and the results presentations in Madrid, Barcelona and London enabled the BCCS to be awarded COBCOE’s ‘Trade Development Award’ in June 2016.

All of these actions lead to the Chamber being the strategic partner for any British companies interested in developing their business or investing in Spain. In these times of uncertainty, the Chamber is the place in which companies can be supported in making new contacts, accessing relevant people or information, promoting their business and accessing a platform representing their interests.
